You do!? I think I knew that but I'm still surprised. It is a weird, weird film... I liked it until I found out there isn't a deeper meaning to the craziness of it all. You might enjoy Beau.
Self indulgent yes, but Mother was really a unique film. Loved it, will probably love Beau for the drama and how Joaquin plays an anxiety-ridden person.
It was, I agree. And for the most part I enjoyed Mother a lot, though I’ve never thought about rewatching it. The way the chaos gradually builds in that film is fantastic. I think what I struggle with is the lack of clear meaning, but that probably says more about me than the film.
Yeah, I agree. I will also never rewatch Mother as much as I would want to watch Aronofsky's Requiem or Babel. And yes, there is that lack of meaning, but over the years I have accustomed to art that doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I have learned to put aside my hunger for meaning and simply take stories in the context of curiosity and wonder. Because looking at Tenet, even Chris Nolan is not caring much about meaning these days 🙈😂
😂 - that bit about Nolan genuinely made me laugh! Though, I liked Tenet - the only part I didn't get was who were the good guys fighting at the end? How did Kenneth Branagh put together that massive army? An army that, I assume, knew they were trying to end the world…
I still need some sort of meaning, or definitive narrative, in films. I think I always will. But there were still parts of Beau I enjoyed, but they were mostly at the beginning.... After 2 hours, I was very ready to leave.
I cant think of the original without thinking of you, because I remember you talking about it and saying something like "the animation is absolutely stunning". The sequel has big shoes to fill, and to be honest I think it will have a hard time topping the first, but we'll see.
Another great issue. Thanks for letting me guest edit the previous one!
Thanks Chris! Was an absolute pleasure having you!
I love Mother! The queen of sleepy sounds pretty cool too...

If you see Beau, I’d love to know what you think.

Buzzing for spider man, and I'm looking forward to your review Tom given we probably won't be able to find a cinema showing it here in English.
